If you’ve been following my blog for a while you know that I am a concert junkie. Even more than a concert junkie, I am a boyband concert junkie. One Direction, Hollywood Ending, even Big Time Rush. Concerts are my jam.
Last night, I attended the 5 Seconds of Summer concert with Jackson Guthy (my prom date) as the opening act. 5SOS (pronounced five sauce), aussie boyband of four, has been climbing the charts with the recent release of their EP, “She Looks So Perfect”. I met these lovely lads last summer at their first headlining show in New York and I was even happier to be a part of their second.
The concert started off with Jackson Guthy, singer-songwriter prom date extraordinaire. This is the third time I’ve seen Jack live (and the second at Best Buy Theater) and he just gets better and better, and so does his music. One of my absolute favorites (apart from his new single “Young & Single”, of course) was “Legacy”. Hopefully I’ll get act together and post a video on my youtube channel with clips from the concert and this song, and I know the “junior year” excuse is getting old, but it’s junior year… Anyways, great show Jack, you never disappoint.
Next came the Aussies, 5SOS. Playing a mix of covers (like “What I Like About You” and “Teenage Dream”) and original music, these boys put on quite the show. Their first headlining show in New York was an acoustic set, so I never really heard all of their music live. The whole waiting-in-line-for-two-hours-to-get-a-good-spot thing didn’t work out so well so my friends and I ended up in the back, but it is still one of my favorite concerts to date. Everyone was enjoying themselves and everyone was having a good time (even the parents in the back with us). My favorite songs of the set were “Disconnected” and “Heartache On The Big Screen”, available on their new EP. My words of wisdom: the next time they come to your area, do everything in your power to see them. It’s so worth it.
I also met up with Jackson and his friend Ray (who doesn’t really understand the whole “blog” thing) after the show! See you guys in 41 days…
And s/o to my friends Sophia, Leah and Rachel who put up with me the whole night, y’all rock, never change.
Peace n Blessings
