March felt like a week and a year at the same time. It went by so fast but it was so action-packed I can’t even remember everything I did. I was in China for 9 days, I studied for and took way too many midterms, I planned out my future multiple times, I cleaned my room 6 times (yes, mom, 6 times!!!!) and went through three bags of Tostitos hint of lime chips. It was a good month, but a busy one. It’s also crazy to think that I’ll be done with my freshman year of college in 5 weeks. Time has surely flown by this year and as much as I’m sick of midterm season and 8am’s 4 days a week, I don’t want all of college to go by this fast.
Sustainability & Style
After going to China, touring factories, spending time in their fake malls and breathing in alarming amounts of polluted air, it was refreshing to come back to California and have a package from Bblackbox waiting for me in my dorm room. Bblackbox is a California-based company that sells everything from candles to backpacks to jewelry to notebooks to sweatshirts and sweatpants. They’re an artist collective; they all hand-make their products in their US-based industrial grade studios and consider all parts of their production. They repurpose scrap material, donate and resell surplus materials, and everything is Made in the good ole USA. They’ve also partnered with Love146 and Living Water International, non-profits that focus on eliminating child trafficking and providing clean drinking water to impoverished parts of the world, and are donating 10% of their profits to these organizations. Bblackbox is doing some pretty incredible stuff.
I recently decided that I’m officially over my backpack from my junior year of high school — a dirty grey and white striped Vans backpack — so this canvas bag has been a nice addition to my life. I know I’ll be using it a lot between classes and even for weekend beach trips or as an overnight bag. It’s extremely durable, made of heavyweight canvas, and can carry my laptop, notebooks and my favorite hydroflask water bottle without any worry. And that’s just one of the many perks of buying sustainably in general; investing in something that will last a long time and is made ethically and sustainably is truly worth it.
Head over to Bblackbox’s website and don’t get fooled by their landing page like I did… See anything you like? You can get all for 15% off with the code TunesandTunics16!! This is an awesome company with a plethora of items available, and they’re doing good sustainable things. You can’t get much better than that.
March was (again) a Spotify filled month. “UGH!” by The 1975 has been on repeat through my hours of statistics studying and countless assignments. It’s a real mood booster.
